Software Development Engineer
Tetra Trust
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 3 days in office per week)
Type: Full-time
Application Deadline: July 25, 2025
At Tetra Trust, we don’t just write code, we write the future of digital asset infrastructure in Canada. We’re Canada’s first qualified custodian for digital assets, and we’re building something that’s never existed before: a secure, compliant, institutional-grade backbone for the digital asset industry.
We don’t believe in hype. We believe in high standards, hard work, and delivering what matters.
Who You Are
You’re a problem-solver who thrives when the stakes are high. You’re comfortable working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, collaborating with compliance and product teams to build software that’s secure, scalable, and intuitive. You understand the weight of responsibility that comes with building systems where security isn’t optional and precision is everything. You don’t just solve problems; you anticipate them, with an eye for detail and a mind for the bigger picture.
You’re adaptable, ready to wear multiple hats, and know collaboration is how great teams move mountains. You value clear communication and trust that building something meaningful takes patience and grit.
You might be early in your career or bringing a few years of experience, but you have a sharp eye for quality and a strong desire to grow.
The Opportunity
This is more than a job. It’s a chance to be part of a team where every line of code matters, where your work holds real stakes, and where the products you help build will shape the future of finance in Canada.
As a Software Development Engineer, you’ll partner closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to build the backbone of Tetra’s custody platform. You’ll write solid, thoughtful code, but you’ll also help define what solid means. You’ll ask tough questions, participate in code reviews, and bring a mindset of continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborating with senior engineers to design and maintain secure APIs, services, and user interfaces that powering Tetra’s platform ensures it strong and reliable
- Participating in sprint planning, architecture reviews, and peer code reviews
- Writing high-quality, tested code, primarily in TypeScript, Python, or Go, depending on the component
- Helping us see deeper into the system by improving observability and diagnostics
- Working closely with compliance and product teams to translate complex requirements into secure, user-friendly features
- Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to platform reliability
What We’re Looking For
You don’t have to check every box. But you do need to be ready to own your craft, collaborate deeply, and push yourself to grow.
Here’s what will help you thrive:
- 3 to 5+ years of solid software engineering experience, ideally in fintech, security, or infrastructure-heavy environments
- Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), Python, or Go
- Comfort with RESTful APIs, service architectures, and relational databases like PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with CI/CD, unit testing, and version control using Git
- Experience working in agile teams, where flexibility meets focus
You’ll stand out if you’ve also:
- Worked in blockchain or crypto
- Gained exposure to security best practices and regulatory compliance
- Built side projects or contributed to open source, showing your curiosity and initiative
- Worked with Go (Golang), a bonus for our backend services
What’s in It for You
- Build at the Intersection of security, cryptography, finance, and cloud-native development
- Collaborate with a Driven Team that’s shaping Canada’s digital asset ecosystem and future
- Work on Software That Matters because lives and assets depend on it
- Grow Fast learn constantly, and build a career that’s as meaningful as the work you do
